What PDFfer does
PDFfer is a browser-based tool for merging, splitting and watermarking PDF files and extracting their text. All file processing happens on the server, but your files are never stored permanently and are never shared with anyone.
Your uploaded files
- Files you upload are stored temporarily on the server solely to carry out the requested operation (merge, split, watermark or text extraction).
- Watermark images are processed in memory only and are never written to disk.
- When you leave or refresh the page, your files are deleted immediately.
- As a fallback, any remaining files are automatically deleted after 30 minutes.
- No copies are kept. No backups are made. Once deleted, the files are gone.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect personal data.
- We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics.
- We do not share any data with third parties.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not require an account or login.
Theme preference
The only data stored in your browser is your light/dark theme preference, saved via localStorage. This never leaves your device.
Security
All connections to PDFfer are encrypted via HTTPS. The application is served with strict security headers (Content Security Policy, HSTS, X-Frame-Options, etc.) to protect against common web vulnerabilities.
